The Promise Box...{To Read} Book Review

Photobucket

Good morning, y'all :)
Today I have the privilege of sharing with you a new book that just released this week!!!  It is...

The Promise Box
(Book #2 from the Seven Brides for
Seven Bachelors Series)
by Tricia Goyer

Here is a little info on the book via here:

With her heart – and her loyalty – on the line, can she let true love in her life?
Every year, young Amish men descend on the cozy little town of West Kootenai, Montana, arriving in the spring to live there for six months and receive ‘resident’ status for the hunting season in the fall. They arrive as bachelors, but go home with brides! Lydia Wyse, a book editor from Seattle who grew up Amish, returns to the small community of West Kootenai, Montana to give comfort to her father after her mother’s death.
She is drawn back to the familiar Amish ways after finding her mother’s most precious possession, a Promise Box of prayers and scripture. What her publisher sees, though, is an opportunity for a sensational ‘tell-all’ book about the Amish. Lydia soon finds herself falling in love with Amish bachelor Gideon Hooley. She wants nothing more than to forget her past and look forward to a future as an Amish bride. Will the pain of her childhood—and her potential betrayal of her community—keep her from committing her whole heart?
As the above gives a glimpse into the book, we find Lydia returning home for her mother's funeral.  Memories and a harsh past plague her.  She discovers that all of the running she's been doing for years and the trying to live life on her terms without much of God's help just doesn't work.  She's left with questions and desperately seeks the answers.  In her mother's Promise Box, Lydia discovers secrets, promises, and truth that lead her into discovering more than she could ever imagine.
I love fiction that not only tells a story, but you leave learning something too.  I did just that.  I believe that we all can relate to Lydia in some way, shape, and form.  I know I really did.  I could see myself in her shoes.  You see I had been like her.  There was a time in my past where I had ran from God.  I had thought that I could try life on my own.  My rules.  My way.  He would have no say.  So, I ran.  I ran so hard, so far, looking for that which was there all along.  Looking for Him.  Only I couldn't see it.  Like that saying..."you can't see the forest for the trees" (Is that how it's said?-if not pretend-ha!).  But all the while, God was calling me back to Him.  I am so glad that He did!!!
I won't give anything away.  I mean how selfish and crazy would that be?!!  So, to find out how it all goes and ends, read the book ;)  Trust me when I say this...go out now and buy the book!!!  Read The Promise Box.  You will not only LOVE it, but you will also learn so much in the process.  We are right there with her and walk with Lydia down this spiritual journey.  Along the way, we watch her relationship unfold with those she cares for.  We watch as she tries returning to the Amish faith in which she was raised in.  We witness her journey through her eyes and in the process learn a thing or two as well.  Reading Ada Mae's promises, opens your eyes up to a deeper knowing of Him.  You find yourself encouraged too!!!
I LOVED this book and it'll be one I'll read over and over and over again :)  It's also a book that I HIGHLY RECOMMEND to all :)
